Indonesia denies visas to Israeli team to participate in gymnastics championship
Indonesia has denied visas to Israeli athletes to participate in the world gymnastics championships in Jakarta, the Associated Press reported. The Israeli team was scheduled to participate in the world gymnastics championships in Jakarta from October 19 to 25.
mAliworldNews: According to reports, Indonesia has refused to grant visas to Israeli gymnasts due to Israeli atrocities in Gaza, so members of the Israeli gymnastics team will no longer be able to participate in the 53rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.
"It has been confirmed that he will not participate," the head of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, Eita Juliati, told reporters at a press conference on Friday, according to reports from the Associated Press and other international news agencies.
Indonesia's Senior Minister of Legal Affairs Yisrael Ahza Mahindra has also said in this regard that Indonesia has decided not to issue visas to Israeli players. Yisrael Ahza Mahindra said in a statement on Friday that this decision is in line with Indonesia's policy that relations with Israel will not be established until it recognizes the independence and full sovereignty of the State of Palestine.
It is worth noting that Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim-majority country and does not have diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation government. Indonesia has also strongly criticized Israel's imposed war on Gaza.
It should be noted that, according to the Gaza Health Department, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been martyred so far in the brutal aggression of the occupying Israeli army in Gaza since October 2023.
