Opposition to Israel's participation in Eurovision 2026 continues, and now a famous Irish singer has also announced returning his Eurovision trophy in protest against Israel.
mAliworldNews/World: The opposition to Israel's participation in Eurovision 2026, to be held next year in Vienna, is ongoing and intensifying. Now, a famous Irish singer, Charlie McGettigan, has also expressed his reaction against Israel's participation in Eurovision 2026. The well-known Irish singer has announced returning his 1994 trophy in protest of Israel's participation in Eurovision.
According to media reports, Charlie McGettigan from Ireland, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, has said that he will return his trophy in protest of Israel's continuous participation in the contest. Last year's winner, Swiss singer Nemo, is also part of this action.
In a video posted on social media, McGettigan said he intends to send his trophy to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes Eurovision. McGettigan won the contest with his Irish singer partner Paul Harrington.
It is noteworthy that after confirmation that Israel will participate in Eurovision 2026, broadcasters from five countries—Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain—have announced their withdrawal from the Eurovision 2026 contest.
